Join on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch
Consoles officially cannot add custom servers. How the unofficial BedrockConnect route works anyway — including the risks.
Before you start: the honest part
- Officially this is not possible. Consoles cannot add custom servers — that is not a setting we overlooked, it is how Mojang built it.
- The route below is an unofficial workaround. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo do not support it. We found no rule forbidding it, but we cannot rule one out either. You do this at your own risk.
- The second DNS entry is mandatory. Leave it out and your console loses internet access entirely — no store, no streaming, nothing.
- After each Minecraft update the service is usually broken for about a day. If you get an "older version" message, try again a day or two later.
- An online subscription is still required: PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass or Nintendo Switch Online.
- You can undo this any time by setting DNS back to "Automatic".
There is a paid app called "BedrockConnect" on the App Store and Google Play, with ads and a subscription. It is not part of the project and is not needed here. You do not have to install or pay for anything.
Step 1: change the DNS on your console
Nintendo Switch
The DNS setting belongs to the Wi-Fi profile, not the system — switch networks and you have to set it again there.
- System Settings → Internet → Internet Settings
- Under Registered Networks pick your network → Change Settings
- DNS Settings → Manual
- Primary DNS:
134.255.231.119· Secondary DNS:8.8.8.8 - Save, then fully restart the console (not just sleep mode)
On Switch there is no alternative: it cannot see LAN worlds, so phone or PC bridges do not help here.
PlayStation 5
- Settings → Network → Settings → Set Up Internet Connection
- On your connection choose Advanced Settings
- Set DNS Settings to Manual
- Primary:

- Settings → Network → Set Up Internet Connection
- Choose your connection type (Wi-Fi or LAN cable) → Custom

Xbox
- Settings → General → Network settings → Advanced settings → DNS settings → Manual

This menu path comes from user reports, not from Microsoft itself — wording may differ slightly per console.
If it does not work it is usually IPv6: the Xbox then ignores your custom DNS. Fix: disable IPv6 on your router, or set the DNS on the router instead.
Step 2: connect in Minecraft
Open Minecraft
Start Minecraft and go to the Servers tab.
Click one of the featured servers
Click The Hive or Lifeboat. Instead of that server, the BedrockConnect list opens.
Choose “Connect to a Server”
Enter address
planetsmp.comand port19132. The Add to server list toggle keeps the entry saved.Join
Done. If the address gives an error, use the numeric address
145.239.232.109with the same port instead.
To undo: open the same settings and set DNS back to Automatic.
