Custom animals that you tame with food you grew yourself.
A tamed shark carries you through water faster than any boat.
PlanetSMP has animals that do not exist in Minecraft. Lions live in the savanna and cannot be tamed. Bison, rhino, grizzly bear, chameleon and the two shark species become yours if you feed them correctly.
Animal spawning is currently switched off. New custom animals are not appearing in the world right now. Animals you already tamed stay with you.
Where the animals live
There are eight species: lion, lioness, rhino, bison, grizzly bear, chameleon, great white shark and hammerhead shark. Each one only turns up where it lives in reality, so only in its real countries and only in the matching biome. None of these animals turns up inside buildings or in caves.
The right food

The in-game table lists chilli for the chameleon. That is wrong. It eats tomato.
How to tame an animal
- Grow the matching crop yourself. Bought food works the same, your own is cheaper.
- Hold the food in your hand.
- Walk slowly up to the animal and right-click.
- Repeat until hearts appear.
- Leash the animal and bring it to your claim.
The same food also breeds tamed animals. The young grow up normally. Once an animal is tamed or leashed it no longer disappears, not even after a server restart.
Riding sharks
- Tame with raw salmon, leash like a farm animal.
- Ride without a saddle: empty hand, right-click.
- You steer by looking, just like on a saddled pig.
- 10 blocks per second instead of 3.9 when sprint swimming.
- While riding you hold your breath three times as long.
- Works in water only.
On phone and console
Right-click means tap and hold on a phone. On a console it is the left shoulder button. Only then do feeding and mounting work properly.
What often goes wrong
You feed the wrong crop and nothing happens.
Every animal has exactly one crop. Check the table above and hold that crop in your hand.
You search for hours and find no custom animal at all.
Animal spawning is currently off. Ask in trade for an animal that is already tamed.
Your shark does not move.
It only works in water. On land it stands still. Mount it with an empty hand.
